Recording at the NCEM
The NCEM offers a perfect recording space with a natural acoustic.
Renovated to an exceptional standard in 2000, now boasts triple glazing, silent under-floor heating, dedicated artists facilities, soundproofing and acoustic treatment to tailor your sound.
For live recordings or for studio sessions the NCEM adapts well and allows you to shut out the outside world and focus your recording in conducive surroundings.
We have a range of well-maintained early music keyboard instruments (more details here) and can recommend a variety of support services – from session engineers through to catering and accommodation.
The venue is well used by a wide variety of early music specialists as well as jazz, folk and contemporary musicians. BBC Radio 3 uses the NCEM to broadcast live concerts throughout the year, including the Early Music Show as part of the York Early Music Festival.
